I've used soooo many alternative desktop concepts. They all seem great at first until you realize one thing. They have to be 100% perfect all the time. That one time you need to find something super important and the methods don't work. You are up the creek without a paddle. You don't even know how to begin searching or repairing a lost file situation. Unfortunately computers are no where near reliable enough for a paradigm shift. I will always have a better mental model of my data then the PC will at this time. Especially for important stuff. If I have to keep the old ways for important stuff than there is little point to learn a new paradigm for my pointless stuff.
