The startup that made air conditioning units look cool
- redkinght99 5y agoThis feels like one of those Ads disguised as a news article. It's claiming an air conditioning startup founded in 2020 (windmillair.com) is bigger / "cooler" than Dyson (dyson.com).
- patleeman 5y agoIt definitely is.
- henvic 5y agoIt might look warm once the plastic gets yellowish within a decade or so of use lol
- henvic 5y agoIt looks like an overhyped good-looking AC. It doesn't say anything about the tech inside, including how noisy it is, etc. How does someone pays for a premium (???) window AC without knowing this?
- joshu 5y agowow, that page is festooned with adware
- croon 5y ago502 for anyone else? Unexpected for Fortune.
- aaronharnly 5y agoThis is the unit. It looks fine — still a box, but a bit less of the standard look I suppose. https://www.windmillair.com/product/the-windmill-ac/ https://www.windmillair.com/product/the-windmill-ac/
- compsciphd 5y ago$395 for an 8k btu and $325 for a 6k btu seem very very expensive to me. It's been a little bit since I was in the market for window ACs, but a 6k BTU would sell for $100ish from home depot or lowes when on sale. edit: 2 weeks ago Costco was selling an 8K for $150 - https://slickdeals.net/f/15030940-hisense-window-air-conditioner-with-wifi-8-000-btu-350-sq-ft-costco-150-00?src=SiteSearch https://slickdeals.net/f/15030940-hisense-window-air-conditi...
