Cloudflare DNS servers prevent users from downloading PuTTY
- patrakov 5y ago1.1.1.1 gives the correct "A" record for the.earth.li (the site that actually hosts the downloads), but 1.1.1.2 (DNS with malware filtering) and 1.1.1.3 (with protection against malware and adult content) give 0.0.0.0 as the address. A wild guess is that this is because PuTTY has an integrated SOCKS server which can be used (given an ssh account somewhere) as a tool to bypass the filter.

The server that hosts the release files, the.earth.li, has been blocked since at least 22 May. We don't know why; Cloudflare's own categorisation of the site does not currently include any "security threat" tags.
