- bregma 5y agoI see nothing odd in calling that computer science. It seems more like hardcore computer science.
- Jenz 5y agoAnd what then couldn’t be called "hardcore computer science?"
- TuringTest 5y agoI believe the core difference between comp-sci and other math is in taking into account the efficiency of the representation and/or transformation. Thus defining the Monster group is discrete mathematics, but not computer science (or not directly). Finding parts of the Monster groups that can be represented and manipulated by computers would be computer science.
