Exactly. He was still following the law. You don't think an actual dictator would have been a little bit more effective at holding power? And who attempts an insurrection without guns and gives up immediately? An actual insurrection would have been a bloodbath.
I agree with your last point, we need the center to build the bridge, and start closing the gap. Failure to do so could mean we all suffer from it anyway.
- rektide 5y agoFollowing the law... and telling his followers to revolt & overthrow the government.
- proc0 5y agoOnce again, if that had been the case, he was either not as dangerous as people thought, or that didn't happen. Otherwise millions of people would have shown up with guns and it would have been a bloody revolution.
- rektide 5y agoyour willingness to not accept a single fault, to see this as perfectly reasonable acceptable ok way for democracy to go is staggeringly terrifying. people did show up with guns. those people fired them. after being told for months by their leader that a fair & democratic election was stolen from them. the gop & trump are still making absolutely batshit claims. they still haven't allowed a peaceful transition of power. they have the stupidest most insulting long list of insane horseshit, in place after place, and it would have taken way too much of it happening in way too many places for there to have been a difference. hecs not delusional, he's continuing the role of demagogue, brining pain & division & suffering & insanity & lies to this country. you talk about the conversation breaking down & that leading to violence & discord. one party has been driving the politics america over the cliff fory entire life. they survive only because they willfully break from reality. that is their politic. what the fuck do we do about that?
