Tesla illegal job description (2021)
- plmoknf 5y agoJD: https://www.tesla.com/careers/search/job/software-engineer-python-developer-w-m-d-gigafactory-berlin-91912 https://www.tesla.com/careers/search/job/software-engineer-p... When you move forward to fill your details, Tesla asks for a bunch of things which are pretty shitty to be honest.
- PragmaticPulp 5y agoCan you be more specific about what you think is illegal? These questions are standard on most job descriptions in many countries. I can't speak to Berlin in particular, but it's generally not illegal to ask these questions in most countries where I've posted job descriptions. Companies are expected to confirm that candidates are legally authorized to work in their country, and companies are also freely able to choose if they want to engage in the sponsorship process for candidates.
- _Microft 5y agoAcknowledgement #2 is definitely invalid/not legal in Germany. This is the relevant law: https://www.gesetze-im-internet.de/bgb/__622.html https://www.gesetze-im-internet.de/bgb/__622.html (obviously in German language) You can negotiate other terms but only if they are not worse than what the law states.
- PragmaticPulp 5y agoIt looks like someone simply forgot to change the boilerplate at the bottom based on the country for the job posting. My guess is a copy/paste of the job description. If someone would send it to Tesla I'm sure they'd fix it. Looks more like an honest mistake than some intentional violation of a country's labor laws.
- mtmail 5y agoWhich part do you deem illegal? The questions seem fine. I think in Germany the parts about immediate termination won't work.
- mytailorisrich 5y agoYou already posted that earlier [1] There is probably nothing sinister here and they probably simply did not customise their website for the relevant jurisdiction. Them writing that (employment at will and immediate termination) does not make it so or part an the actual employment contract (where it would in any case be invalid and void in Germany) I don't understand why you're obviously trying to stir controversy here.
