The spa paradigm was not invent d by react. Or any framework for that matter. Remember when asynchronous xmlhttp requests were cutting edge?. It's just one step from ajax to spa. I have been growing increasingly dissatisfied with react but there's no clear superior alternative. Server side react is a pretty good solution for most problems and fairly scalable.
