- barry-cotter 5y agoInteresting to see an intellectual field where progress is probably negative. No doubt there are others where that’s happening right now, much like how archaeology took a decade long detour with “Pots, not people” before coming back to the 1940 or so consensus that a great deal of culture was transmitted by war, invasion, slaughter and conquest, that it wasn’t all mostly peaceful cultural diffusion.
