On a busy project it's disasterous if long-lived chronic bugs which are serious enough to be tracked in the first place, but have never quite made it to the top of the todo list, randomly got closed for no good reason. This issue is a classic case in point. We have too many similar ones on Matrix (but which we've been slowly working through over the years).
