I'm one of the ones who found working from home during covid to be beneficial. I know some did not enjoy working from home but I certainly did.
Working from home gave me 2 hours back that I lost from travel to and from the office. I was able to invest a bit of that time into improving my processes and knowledge. This made me happier.
I noticed a number of other things contributed to my wellbeing while working from home:
I ate healthier (less eating out / fastfood).
I did more exercise (knowing I need to exercise if stuck at home).
I have better equipment at home than I have in my office.
I get interrupted less.
I saved money.
I have kids and see them more, this is very important to me.
After people started to return to work in the office, I felt quite drained going back. I do go into the office again but much less than average person.
So far no one has complained with my intermittent WFH schedule. I tend to feel guilty at times the biggest downside of not being in the office is feeling like an outsider.
