- AirMax98 5y agoTruly egregious history hijacking happening here
- eesmith 5y agoIt links to the one hour interview at YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aYbNh3NS7jA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aYbNh3NS7jA . His views on Rust starts at https://youtu.be/aYbNh3NS7jA?t=1353 https://youtu.be/aYbNh3NS7jA?t=1353 . Go at https://youtu.be/aYbNh3NS7jA?t=1472 https://youtu.be/aYbNh3NS7jA?t=1472 . (Short) Julia at https://youtu.be/aYbNh3NS7jA?t=1485 https://youtu.be/aYbNh3NS7jA?t=1485 After making his comments about Julia, "I"m sure in 5 minutes that will be on Hacker News with a counter-example" (of a web server in Julia "with a lot of mileage out of it). TypeScript at https://youtu.be/aYbNh3NS7jA?t=1566 https://youtu.be/aYbNh3NS7jA?t=1566 . Of the four mentioned language, that has the most influence on Python.

- PEJOE 5y agoYou must be a newer human. Slashdot is a venerable news site of old, with a very interesting comment and moderation scheme. Just because something is different does not make it horrible. I actually rather like /. and think many others do as well.
- canadianfella 5y agoJust because you like something (i.e a website with really shitty spammy advertising), it doesn’t mean other people have to.
- deepsun 5y agoI'm pretty old, but any website with broken back button is a bad engineering.
- forgotpwd16 5y agoHow does /. has broken back button?
- meepmorp 5y agoNo wireless. Less space than a nomad. Lame.
- necovek 5y agoUsed it for what HN is as well, but the takeaway from the article for me was that /. still exists!
- OhSoHumble 5y agoMy heart weeps for what the next generation stands to lose.
- ranguna 5y agoWhat do you not like about it? There are some buttons on top, text in the middle and comments on the bottom. I'd say that's a pretty straight forward UI.
- chris_j 5y agoAs others have pointed out, Slashdot is a classic site. It has been around for decades at this point and it used to fulfil the role that Hacker News does for me today: it was where I would go to see news about tech. It makes me sad to see that it has gone down hill so much since I last visited. Hacking the back button like that makes me not want to visit again.
