How dare someone release something that was otherwise paid for free and not cater to my individual moral interests? If only there was a way to change the game so it did not depend on the evil library...

    With moral grandstanding? Yes. Especially when OP made it clear they were not going to actually obtain and run the software. After all, they could've added a non-Steam patch being OSS.
