People work at startups because they want crazy hours and stress. It's fun. You get a bond with your coworkers that you can't get any other way. If that doesn't appeal to you then yeah you shouldn't work at a startup. But tbh I've never met these mythical people who joined a startup thinking that it was actually a rational financial decision - everyone I know did it because they wanted an intense experience.
