> After Mozilla laid off all Servo developers in 2020, governance of the project was transferred to the Linux Foundation. Development work officially continues at the same GitHub repository, but only volunteers remain, so there has merely been maintenance activity.
- est31 5y agoIt's so sad that Mozilla blamed covid for this, as never before people have been spending so much time at home and in front of their computers, causing record earnings for digital companies. Including Google, which finances Firefox. Daily usage time of Firefox has actually went up around April 2020, by around 24 minutes and has been at that level since. https://data.firefox.com/dashboard/user-activity https://data.firefox.com/dashboard/user-activity Also the employees found really good employment at other companies so there seems to be high demand for Rust developers, at least in the USA, and at least for this segment of the market.
