Micropayments don't work overtime simply because there's not enough quality available. It's simply impossible to have every item be the best. Even at micro size payments people will start to select by the best,to then, and be very selective about what they will read. Quality will improve but quantity will decrease. Micropayments might work for a bit of time but eventually the overall market will shrink. In time it will be controlled by a few large companies even less than today. The current big boys of the net make sense Google, Facebook and the others. Small very focused publications might work but a subscription model will probably be better since there would be less people willing to pay per article and it would be hard to make a profit.
