I feel like they fumbled the ball a bit. Vscode was flailing for a long time before I finally switched away from sublime text. Sublime text had ample time to move the needle on the problems they had for years and ignored. I don't think I could go back at this point, there isn't any real drawbacks staying with vscode and it's more likely to work with my companies processes.
