What a load of crap. If I knew that a company uses stuff like this, I would just skip the application. Knowing that in comparison to companies where my qualification is what matters, this will lower my chances and thus is a waste of time. On the other hand, it is an utter anachronism that in Germany, job applications still usually come with a photo, even if the job has nothing to do with appearance. That should just be forbidden because it increases ethnic and racial biases. As with any bias, it makes it also harder for the companies to select the best candidates.
