I am 24 and I think she would not be happy to date me. I am attractive and have a nice FAANG SWE job, but I am not really looking for a relationship or even casual sex. I think there are a few reasons for this.
One is that I am totally fine with my life as it is - I have some friends, some hobbies, and unlimited entertainment via computers. I don't really get bored much, and so I don't really need to leave my comfort zone to have a good time. The pandemic has really intensified this because there is far less "fear of missing out" on a fun event when nobody is going outside.
Another reason (and probably more important) is that I can't seem to get aroused when I am actually hooking up with a girl. I had quite a few hookups during HS and college but have never really had a "successful" one so to speak. I am not sure why this is the case, I think it must be something to do with watching porn throughout the years, starting at an early age. It's like my sex drive has burned out, I just never really feel horny when with a real person. I used to be really depressed about this but at this point I have pretty much accepted it, and I just make zero effort to find a hookup. There is something really humiliating and terrible about hooking up with a girl and not being able to perform, and it is an experience I am not anxious to repeat.
Not sure why I felt the need to post this, but it's my situation. People who have known me for a while know I don't make any effort with women, but if you just met me, it will probably take a while for you to realize due to my highly practiced "mask".
- op03 5y agoLets walk through what you are saying "I don't need a relationship". "I am entertained enough therefore I don't need a relationship" "I cant get aroused anymore. I have theories about why. Its humiliating/anxiety inducing. And therefore I don't need a relationship" Since everything hinges on what you think a relationship is, its crucial you clarify what it means to your first. This is super important. If you don't have a good understanding of what something is, how can you want it?
- deekmann99 5y agoI think you misunderstand. I am saying I DON'T want a relationship. I want to want one, I want to be just as horny as every other guy, but for whatever reason I am not.
