- nkrisc 5y agoThe first section with the foods helps illustrate the class difference: the Germanic words we still use in English to describe the animal, while the Norman words we still use to describe the processed food products from the animal.
- patrickthebold 5y agoI noticed dove/pigeon on there: I was taking an Arabic class and the professor was Egyptian. At one point she mentioned 'Pigeons of peace', which sounded ridiculous to my ears since 'doves' are a peace symbol and not pigeons, even though they are the same animal.
- irrational 5y agoI had no idea doves and pigeons are the same animal. Fascinating!
