The nearly clean builds nix provides with a replicable tool chain in most cases is stupendous.
It's the perfect container build tool. You can always, repeatably, build a container from scratch.
It's not a shabby distro either!
- whateveracct 5y agonot to mention that it's lazy, functional mature makes it trivial to override with the language (instead of necessarily using straight patches) definitely one of the coolest real-world uses of fixed points
- bionhoward 5y agoIs there any way to use nix-shell for dependency management in the superuser on Ubuntu? I'd love to use Nix to handle Kubernetes but nix-shell on my Ubuntu rig doesn't work with sudo, and that's required for K8s. Am I screwed and just need to install NixOS?
- whateveracct 5y agocan't you sudo once you're in a nix-shell instead of trying to run 'sudo nix-shell'? maybe i'm not understanding the issue you ran into
