Does C++'s potential for unsafe code make life more exciting? (2019)
- Bostonian 5y agoThis comment is interesting: OmnipotentEntity 1 year ago · edited 1 year ago Platinum Different guy. I've coded a very large project in C++ (about 180k SLoC). Beyond a certain point, keeping everything in your head is simply beyond the scope of human effort, no matter who you are. So therefore, a language should ideally assist you with keeping track of it all. However, C++ the language and C++ the community has the philosophy that programmers should have the power to shoot themselves in the foot at any time, and any attempt to assist them into not shooting themselves in the foot is at best pointless molycoddling and at worst is actively subversive to everything the language stands for. <rest snipped>
