Just letting people know, if you or a project you know is looking for a new home because of this, I can hook you up with chatroom over XMPP and web + optional IRC bridging, no charge for open source or free culture: https://cheogram.com/freedomware-muc/ https://cheogram.com/freedomware-muc/
- jacob019 5y agoXMPP MUC is is fantastic, but it seems like the only public chats are for developing XMPP clients.
- singpolyma3 5y agoThere are a lot of those of course, but browsing https://search.jabber.network/ https://search.jabber.network/ I see for example: - xmpp:openhardware@conference.magicbroccoli.de?join for chatting about open hardware - xmpp:discuss@conference.soprani.ca?join for chatting about bridges and opening up the phone network - xmpp:floss@rooms.dismail.de?join for general FLOSS discussion - xmpp:thinkpad-user@rooms.dismail.de?join for people who love thinkpads - xmpp:libreparents@conference.singpolyma.net?join for discussion of the intersection of FLOSS life and parenting Probably more, and I only looked for ones in English for this list :)
- jacob019 5y agoNot many though, and not much discussion going on there. It seems that German language MUCs are more popular. It would be nice to see more.
