Articles like these always assume charging time is just a problem of the battery. Charging a 70kwh car battery would require a 4.2 MW charging cable/site. In order to not melt normal cables the voltage would have to be quite high. Maybe with a static connector on the underside of the car, who knows.
PS: To clarify. THIS Article does mention those issues. Others LIKE these often don't.
- gpapilion 5y agoThe article covers that charging a vehicle at 10x the current Tesla speed would be difficult. Both from a cable and grid perspective. Ironically it also points out this would like cause demand for fossil fuel peakers, making the car far less green.
- clouddrover 5y ago> Charging a 70kwh car battery would require a 4.2 MW charging cable/site Think of it this way: no passenger car EV today can make full use of a 350 kW CCS charger. If this battery can enable a flat charging curve at 350 kW, then it would only take 17 minutes to charge a 100 kWh battery from 0 to 100% state of charge.
