Uber took away upfront pricing from Diamond drivers today
Uber took away upfront pricing from diamond drivers today 5/18/21. I've been a Diamond since it started...perfect ratings etc...We are no longer owner operators if we have cant have upfront pricing...I guess i cant drive for Uber anymore,,. it was good well it lasted.
- tomcam 5y agoOccasional Uber user here. I don’t know what that means but I am interested in your plight. Could you explain what upfront pricing is and what the implications of its absence are?
- foxyv 5y agoThe ability for drivers to know how much money they will get for a ride before accepting it I think.
- pisseddriver 5y agoyup thats correct
- notdang 5y agoWasn't it for all the drivers? In a neighboring country, as a passenger I always notice that the driver sees the price before accepting it.
- pisseddriver 5y agofrom what i know it was only for USA California
- pisseddriver 5y agoHaving upfront details and pricing gave drivers the ability to stay close to home if they wished, but yesterday UBER took that away. Now we can endup in tim buk to.
- Trias11 5y agoFrom a passenger standpoint, if drivers will lose ability to cherry pick passengers and deny rides under lame excuses - I'd only appreciate that. In pre-covid times armenian Uber mafia in LA airport was notorious for that. Pretty sure not only there.
- cosmodisk 5y agoI've been using Uber a lot since the beginning of the pandemic. I'm quite interested in how things work on their end some drivers are willing to share the 'painpoints'. Cherry picking is bad for the customer, but: 1) In London, a lot of Uber drivers stopped going to central London because of the congestion charge. Essentially if you go there, you pretty much have to stay there all day to make it worthwhile. 2) They can't plan their time. Imagine you want to finish in the next 10min and pickup kids from school. Instead, you get to drive 2 hours to another city ( it does happen). 3) Long rides don't make much sense for drivers financially,so they often prefer local, shorter trips.
- pisseddriver 5y agoThat such for you.. the great thing that happened for USA California right before the pandemic was it gave us full details (How much pickup location, and drop off location) prior to accepting, but of course this was only to satisfy PROP 22, now as of 5/18/2021 they took it away since the bill had passed to keep UBER here...i think all cities, counties, countries, all over the world have to do what California did but make it stick, for now i only do "set destinations" to stay where i want... note for those that like to driver miles and hours.. kudos to you.. but for those that want to take control...i can only hope for this
