  Because it’s ideological flamebait designed to trigger the amygdala rather than inform and educate. As soon as I read the editorial I felt upset, confused, angry- and that of course is how I was intended to feel. A hit piece like this is perfectly designed to trigger you. What’s really dismaying is that so many seemingly rational people here on hacker essentially fell for it.. You let them take your rational mind and replace it with a vehicle for propagating the priorities of the author of the article. And it’s so, so easy for that to happen. It’s happened to me. And once you’ve fallen for something like this, it’s very, very hard to admit that you’ve been had.
