I like how the actual secret to success is basically 'already be an insider with lots of connections'. I definitely don't think you're wrong; it just goes again

I like how the actual secret to success is basically 'already be an insider with lots of connections'. I definitely don't think you're wrong; it just goes against the esoteric startup narrative we always see.
- throwaway3699 5y agoNetworking is slow and painful, but unfortunately I'd say it's pretty necessary. It's a resource just as important as customer empathy or programming ability.
- toomuchtodo 5y agoIn life it's either who you know or good SEO.
- hluska 5y agoThat’s one way of looking at it. Another way of looking at it is that if you’re the kind of founder who comes up with and executes on good ideas, other smart people want you to be part of their networks. So networking is ultimately just giving other equally cool people the chance to meet you. It’s really a service.
- SQueeeeeL 5y agoSure, but that's a difficult problem to bootstrap. You need to be able to execute on your ideas, which requires a network (at least that's what it seems like for the original poster who can't find clients). It's a weird cyclical system.
