Absolutely no expert, but afaik stability is not about the market going up, but closer to a measure on how much the participants in the market agrees on where it's heading. It might often mean that it's more stable when an index like S&P 500 is going up, but I don't think you can compare them. I'm prepared to be heavily corrected by financial experts here.
