I think the good idea would be to give this "Skip" button at least a darker gray background (which once pressed changes into blue) upon interaction so less experienced user would know that it is still an option that can be selected. Without it, this screen suggest that only action is to press visible "Invite Friends" blue button and that is an example of dark pattern design. It might be the approved guideline in official design documentation but it doesn't mean it's a fair design for the user.
