This is a timing issue with the trading. ETFs stop trading at 4pm. And the index for the ETF is calculated at the future close time of 415pm. Eastern Time. Sure, there's after market hours trading for ETFs but liquidity is probably a lot less after 4pm. Nonetheless, the failure to calculate a live index after 4pm is probably close to irrelevant for the average investor here.
