It is just plain old stupid to continue to allow this tech on the road.
Truth is we will never have safe self driving cars until we have "Smart Roads" that inform the cars of what's happening on the road around them and car to car communication that inform all the cars around them of what's happening and Tesla cannot do that all by themselves.
So the truth is what Tesla has now is nothing more than a sales gimmick, and it's a deadly one when the "driver" is stupid enough to believe the car can safely drive itself, and it's proven drivers are that stupid now, but that shouldn't surprise anyone at all. We have all kinds of proofs of that dating back to the Model T.
Tesla cannot have it both ways. They can't hype the car's amazing abilities to "drive itself" and tell user's not to press the button to engage that tech because users are just as stupid as Telsa for hyping such bullshit.
And when a Telsa runs into an emergency vehicle on the side of the road with its emergency lights flashing that is a pretty solid and grand example of how stupid Tesla's tech really is.
That's not the same as saying their tech is not amazing, as automotive tech goes it's astounding, but it's no where near safe on the roads right now and it will never be until those criteria I mention above are integrated into the tech.
In the meantime I'll just try to avoid them like all the other crazy drivers on the road.

- oblib 5y agoWell, I can tell you for sure that all people are not equal when it comes to safely operating a vehicle. If they were all safer than me I'd probably be good with that. If they were as safe as the average driver I'd be very scared of that.
