Should the UN intend for satellite imagery to be available to NGOs they can fund the creation and distribution of such images, rather than trying to seize the images acquired by a private entity. It’s not that expensive.
- munk-a 5y agoThat might actually be a really good role for the UN to take - satellite imaging and GPS tracking are security issues for most countries and companies trying to leverage that data have been hit with a lot of regulations and surprises in the past. Niantic had to specifically bow to a lot of concerns about military personnel being trackable through pokemon go when it first came out and private satellite imaging companies need to comply with a long list of deadzones issued by the US Government and other governments across the world.
