I agree, it seems like there must be something happening under the surface to paint such a target on Gates's back and cause such a dramatic 180 in the press coverage. Seems doubtful it's just about the divorce.
- Beldin 5y agoNot really. One of the richest men on the planet divorced. Naturally, people are interested in backstories now. So media starts digging and finding things. Even if they're not directly related to the divorce, the divorce announcement makes it newsworthy. I believe the Eppstein link was already known, but it's (re?)surfacing now worth more interest. Note that if Melinda had been the CEO tycoon, she might have been the target. But as things stand, we attribute the success to Bill and therefore care more about sordid stories about him than her.
