Eric Clapton Blames ‘Propaganda’ for ‘Disastrous’ Covid Vaccine Experience
- trompetenaccoun 5y agoIt doesn't really matter what a few eccentric celebrities say, the hive has made up its mind about what's seen as a complete black and white issue by most. It couldn't possibly be problematic injecting experimental and not formally approved vaccines, especially with younger people who aren't even much at risk.
- johntfella 5y agoindeed. agreed. the reason why I share it is now being run in rolling stones. it might catch a few eyes but I don't expect it to change many minds. people are more or less locked into the spheres in which they are in.
- jfengel 5y agoVaccinating young people is about herd immunity, rather than protecting them. There are still a lot of people at risk. Either they can't take the vaccine (such as weakened immune systems) or are at high risk in the case of rare-but-not-zero vaccine breakthrough. That still includes the elderly, diabetics, and others. At this point the vaccines have been given literally billions of times, and the data is very clear that it's far, far safer than the risk of COVID-19. The lack of formal approval is about the fact that formality is about dotting i's and crossing t's to make sure that people don't abuse the system. Under ordinary circumstances that's a bigger risk, since there's so much money on the line. But this is a fairly black-and-white case where a great many people have died and where the only way to prevent many more deaths has been a lockdowns that cause a lot of other harms -- not just economic, but personal and emotional. The opinions of celebrities are irrelevant. But the opinions of doctors are effectively unanimous: get the shot both for yourself and as a participant in herd immunity. It's better for you, it's better for everyone around you, and it's better for literally the entire world. There's no value in making up excuses when the data is overwhelming that it's safe.
