“desktops”: it’s somewhat common with mini-ITX and Intel NUCs
- selfhoster11 5y agoThat's news to me. Since when do mini-ITX mainboards have soldered in CPUs or RAM?
- tgragnato 5y agoThe first I've seen was boards for AMD APUs (2011+). https://www.manualslib.com/manual/628934/Sapphire-Audio-Pure-Fusion-Mini-E350.html?page=7#manual https://www.manualslib.com/manual/628934/Sapphire-Audio-Pure... (soldered CPU in the low res picture) But it's not specific to AMD mbs, many Intel Atom have a soldered CPU. https://www.mini-itx.com/2017/10/09/intel-atom-c3958-gets-benchmarked-on-gigabytes-ma10-motherboard https://www.mini-itx.com/2017/10/09/intel-atom-c3958-gets-be... (Atom C3958 [..] is a fully fledged server-grade (!!)SoC) RAM is usually upgradable. For processors it depends on what you buy.
