I enjoy tarot and the like. There's nothing magic about it. For me, it's a tool that helps me think more broadly about what is going on. Every card can be interpreted in multiple ways and you'll find a way to apply one of those interpretations to something in your life, as they're so broad. If I draw a card that talks about hard work leading to wealth, I'm going to remind myself that the work I'm putting in now is going to lead to success down the road. One about slowing down and focusing on relaxing and recuperating is going to remind me not to work myself to death trying to find success. There's no magic involved, but that doesn't mean it's useless. A self-help book doesn't magically fix the way you react to difficulties in life. It does, however, give you another way to think about things and encourage you to focus on different aspects than you would normally.
