My Robot Vacuum Cleaner Is Afraid of Sunshine
- arkitaip 5y agoClearly what is needed are remote controlled vacuum cleaners where an operator can take control when the vacuum stumbles upon imaginery cliffs. Maybe one day we could have people directly manipulate vacuum cleaners in physical space.
- edent 5y agoHa! I did try using the remote control (both in app and infrared) but the unit refused to move into "danger". Thereby fulfilling at least one of Asimov's laws.

- ksaj 5y agoThis article is a fun read if you are a robot enthusiast. Anyone who has built a line-following robot knows this problem instinctively. Valentino Braitenberg talked about emergent properties in his Vehicles, and this is one he would have totally delighted in. Of course he would add more sensors to make things even less predictable.
- bellyfullofbac 5y agoLuckily your name isn't Cliff, otherwise you would've thought they installed the psychologist AI on the vacuum, and it's concluded that you're abnormal.
