Salvaged from my own current tab overload: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bookwheel https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bookwheel I occurred to me that this might make a nice working metaphor for web browsers: Make a virtual wheel with a defined (default-manageable) number of positions to fill. Add ability to rotate, or slide, in a number of such wheels. Any wheel that doesn't get active use for some reasonable amount of time goes automatically from active inventory to searchable long term archives.
