A Year of Contradictory CDC Guidelines Destroyed Its Credibility Forever
- 8bitsrule 5y agoI will continue to trust the CDC, despite problems with its early test kits (reasons still unclear). Because of a gigantic shortage of masks in the national stockpile, unlimited panic mask buying/hoarding/profiteering would have deprived a lot of health-care workers from getting PPE. IMO, it was a calculation to maximize lives saved (at an uncertain time) which trumped the total BS spewing out of Washington.
- stuaxo 5y agoIt was bad, but the federalist is worst and the CDC was the Trump CDC.
- monster2control 5y agoNone of these arguments in this article contradict anything if you understand basic logic and reasoning in a time of crisis and learning. What don’t people understand about the word novel? It’s unknown. Every bit of guidance was presented in the form of “from what we understand right now”. Literally the article “dont wear mask” quote points out that they were making the recommendation based on concerns of shortages, for healthcare professionals. We spent the first 3 months of more hearing of shortages of everything. Science isn’t absolute, it’s based on observations. It was a new virus with little known, so of course the guidance was going to continually change as more information was gathered and confirmed.
