Why the hell is anyone travelling for a job interview in the middle of a pandemic? I thought we all knew how to use Zoom now?
Can't work it out with the Guardian, last month they were calling for travel bans, now they are supporting frivolous travel.
- AfterShave 5y agoI don't see how they are supporting frivolous travel by reporting: "This is happening to travelers at the border."
- tompccs 5y agoThey are supporting it in that they consider this newsworthy.
- viraptor 5y agoIt's newsworthy when the LE or related organisations abuse the rules. It doesn't matter if the abused person does something you don't like.
- knorker 5y agoI would encourage you to use more critical thinking when reading news in the future. Another newspaper would phrase the same events as "EU jobseekers try to sneak into the UK, are we doing enough?". The Guardian is not secret about its views. And that's fine. You as the reader have a responsibility.
- periheli0n 5y agoYes, the article is a bit misleading. One is allowed to travel to the UK for a job interview if the interview has already been lined up before landing. It is illegal to enter on a tourist visa and look for work. Always has been.
