Fogbank Is Material Used in Nukes That's So Secret Nobody Can Say What It Is
- PaulHoule 5y agoMy guess is this. The nuclear weapon would work with or without Fogbank, with one caveat. If the weapon got banged up a little in storage, transport and use, the shape of the fogbank-filled cavity could change. Two things are important: (1) the precise shape of the cavity, and (2) the cavity really being a cavity. That is, the Fogbank fills the cavity with something that is highly transparent to radiation, show that X-Rays radiated by the primary bounce interact with a precise geometry and compress the secondary. If the space was empty the precision of the geometry couldn't be guaranteed. Fogbank is the closest thing to empty that fills the space.
