Ask HN: How to Start a Local Community?
I live in (south of France) town where there is a lot of tech, but no real sense of community.
I think it would be super interesting to organize the local tech scene around something like a Discord.
I have no experience with community management, so I was wondering if you did something similar where you're and if you can share useful resources?
- helph67 5y agoI have been looking into this possibility recently. You may find this page useful. https://windowsreport.com/decentralized-social-networks/ https://windowsreport.com/decentralized-social-networks/
- trompetenaccoun 5y agoHave you tried out any of these yet? The concept isn't new, there were others before, like Steemit, but they were all flawed in one way or another.
- Raed667 5y agoI don't have a particular platform in mind; discord, slack or even a forum are all ok. I guess my question is more on how to get people there and keep them engaged in a meaningful way, without it turning into a full-time job?
- p0d 5y agoMaybe see if there is a Linux User Group in your area and join it? May not be exactly what you want but would do no harm seeing how active it is.
