I wondered if this might happen when I first read that they were planning to release a Vue 2.7 backporting some 3.0 features to the 2.x branch. Never seemed much point doing that and an IE port of 3.0, especially considering that 2.x works great on IE (even back to IE9 with transforms and polyfills!) if you absolutely have to support it.
