Writable Websites Using GitHub Pages and GitHub Actions
- benkaiser 5y agoHey Hackernews, I came up with this approach in an effort to allow developers to write data back to a GitHub Pages site using only a HTTP request on the site itself. This makes it possible for a whole new type of site that can be run for free on the GitHub stack. I know there's been a bit of hype around running SQLite on GitHub Pages here lately, and this opens the way for that SQLite database to support modifications. There are challenges involved with concurrently updating a single file so this approach is slightly more suited to updating separate individual files. But as I outlined in the post you can take advantage of things like Jekyll to combine files in a GitHub Pages site. Let me know what you think!
