So... If a person does not have an iOS device, and someone plants this on them/their car? They could be tracked 24/7 and will have absolutely no idea, since "a tag is traveling with you" alert is only on iOS devices. How is this not a huge privacy concern?
- theshrike79 5y agoThey could be tracked for exactly three days. Then the tag would start beeping. (This setting can be adjusted by Apple, it's not an on-device setting) You do know that this exact same tracking can be done with a dozen other devices, which are not made by Apple? If you're tracking a car, AirTags are pretty much the shittiest option and not even the cheapest. You can slap a $20 tracker with a magnet under the fender while walking past and get 1 meter realtime tracking.
- zapdrive 5y ago3 days is long enough. Also, as others have pointed, although other options existed, Apple has made it easier to use and more accessible.
