I’ve found the expectation of massive gains to curtail my spending. When you know BTC would double, everything looks twice as expensive. Last year for me was like living in hyperdeflation.

This is part of the reason why people take DeFi loans with >100% collateral, you want to spend your wealth today but you don't want to use your BTC or other coin you believe to appreciate in value, so using that as collateral and borrowing out something more stable you can spend/invest/lose that, repay it however you like in the stable currency and reduce the risk of losing portfolio value due to deflation
