Sometimes complexity is worth it for the engineering benefits. We could all be running our software on beautifully simple vintage 1980s microcontrollers: the 6502 was an incredibly elegant and simple design! But then we'd be stuck with computers that can't multiply in hardware or add two floating point numbers or prevent a misbehaving application from taking down the whole system.
