Does anyone know why Amazon doesn't already have to charge sales tax, by virtue of their California offices (e.g IMDB, A9 & Alexa)?
- biot 15y agoIf they're separate legal entities, they are responsible for collecting their own sales tax on what they sell in California.
- e40 15y agoBecause those offices aren't involved in direct sales of products from amazon.com.

- brown9-2 15y agoIIRC Amazon has a pretty complicated legal structure where each of those companies - IMDB, A9, etc - are wholly owned subsidiaries of Amazon (or some other legal entity) and not considered the same entity as Amazon.com.
