Ask HN: Why are large finance brokers so bad at formatting emails?

I've noticed a pattern, large legacy financial brokers are very bad at formatting emails. Especially on mobile. When coinbase or Robin Hood sends me an email the formatting is always perfect, but TD Ameritrade or Charles Schwab are predictably bad. Is there a reason for this?
