This might be an unpopular opinion. I bought a Thermapen back when they were new. It was Good! It measured temperature fast. Then it broke, and I bought a cheap one. And it’s basically completely the same. Actually more reliable - the thermapen stopped turning on reliably when I pulled the needle out. This doesn’t mean it’s Ok what Amazon are doing, or for companies to rip them off. But I don’t think most people (any people?) need to spend that much money on a thermometer anymore.
