This doesn’t change the fact that Samsung always immediately clones whatever Apple does
- tooltalk 5y agoHow is that possible when Apple's clone is based on whatever Samsung already announced/releaseD?
- whatshisface 5y agoThey copy each other but make minor errors in each copy. The fitter copies survive. That's called "evolution by natural selection."
- mrgordon 5y agoYou know Samsung lost a billion dollar lawsuit because they stole the entire iPhone UI right?
- bildung 5y agoNo, it was $500M and centered about this design patent for rounded corners: https://patentimages.storage.googleapis.com/fa/21/81/670fbfd00d78ff/USD504889.pdf https://patentimages.storage.googleapis.com/fa/21/81/670fbfd... That's it. These clipart pictures really are the complete patent.
- tooltalk 5y agoyou mean the lawsuits Apple couldn't win outside Koh's court in Apple's backyard?
- NicoJuicy 5y agoBoth examples ( arm laptop and tags) was literally already done by Samsung .. Samsung was also earlier with the smartwatch for example. What else in the past 10 years? Earbuds! Note: iPad and IPhone was earlier, but that's already more than 10 years ago. Where the first tablet was way ahead of it's time: 1989 with the GRiDPad 1900.
- mrgordon 5y agoYes but Samsung copied the iPhone so closely that they lost a 7 year $1 billion lawsuit and ended up settling out of court after appealing to the Supreme Court They almost exactly copied the major UI features in violation of the patents so it goes well beyond whether someone had made any kind of tablet before The Galaxy Book Pro (well at least they changed one word from Mac Book Pro) has always been a close emulation of the MacBook line as well
- NicoJuicy 5y agoHalve a billion about round edges imo. And an Ultrabook is just a thin laptop, Apple doesn't have any patents there, because they were not the first in that. Notice book being in the actual generic name? Not a strong argument for over 20 years... Who even said: good artists copy, great artists steal? :)
